WICKED APPETITE by Janet Evanovich ***

It just doesn't seem possible this is written for adults. The adults are childlike and immature or speak gibberish, the animals have human qualities and save people. There are magic charms,, flying brooms, lots of carb/sugar products being eaten constantly as if someone IRL is deprived.

I can't buy it's an adult novel-must be read aloud bedtime story? Or teenager stuff? Chicklit? Don't know. It's in the same vein as the Plum series: light hearted banter, meaningless chases from page to page, panting after some lightly clothed male/s.

Either you're an adoring fan who loves it or get it at the library.

  1. Wicked Appetite is a horrendous book. The audiobook narrator who CAN be excellent constantly mispronounces any and every word that includes the letter L (Caro for Carl, Dieso for Diesel, Anjoe for Angel, heop for help, hiw for hill, chew for chill, middow for middle, gobboo for gobble, etc...). Not only does she continuously do this, which she does in several-but not all-of the Stephanie Plum books, but, and I don't know for sure as I have only listened to this book and not read  it, but I notice-above and beyond the fact that the story is horrendously written and has no plot or understandable storyline whatsoever, and that the story is ridiculously disrespectful and condescending to women, that the main characters who are supposedly from and who supposedly lives in Salem, Mass. speaks in bizarre and nonsensical colloquialisms including speaking in a southern accent that vacillates between dropping the G from every word that has an ING in it, to speaking in such a strong southern drawl that you simply cannot understand even a word that is being said. And this is carried out throughout the book-not just when there is dialogue going on, but when the narrator is speaking. This obnoxious colloquy continues constantly throughout the book, and paired with the inappropriate accent and the lazy L's, this book makes for a maddening read/listen. Do not listen to this book at bed time in order to relax as I tried to do! It'll only drive you to distraction! I am so disappointed with both Janet Evanovich and Lorelei King. This book is horrendous!
